Stretch

We had a nice wake up to a hotel breakfast of
bacon, waffles, eggs and coffee again. We lounged about in the room until check
out at 11:00am and then hit the road again.

Today, we had to drive through Quebec again. It
wasn’t really too bad, but it was bad enough to make us complain. We had a
pretty straight forward drive. We were headed to Trois-Revivers again to stay
in the same spot we were the last time. However, about an hour away Dodd
brought up the idea of just driving straight through to Tamworth and getting to
the cabin tonight. I said I was ok to drive for a bit if that was what he
wanted to do, but I did request a proper meal. We ended up getting some fish
and chips in…some where… We discovered then that fish and chips, particularly
when your chips are poutine style chips, are not car food. We managed
surprisingly well considering, and had minimal spillage.

We made it through Quebec City with a bit of
traffic as we were there around rush hour. We headed right on through
Trois-Revivers and towards Montreal. We hit a few navigational snags in
Montreal, mostly because of traffic once again. We had to do a section twice
because we missed the exit we wanted. If you have ever heard someone talk about
Seattle or other US cities and concrete spaghetti, tell them Montreal is 10x
worse because the spaghetti isn’t layered like it is in Seattle, it’s just new
roads that randomly sprout out of the one you’re on in 4 different
directions…argh!

We made it through eventually and were pointed
toward the Ontario border. We were going a bit of a different way than our
first time through this area as we were not headed for Northern Ontario this
time, but rather through Kingston and Nappanee. This meant…driving on the dreaded
401 highway… In all honesty it was no worse than the highways in Quebec, in
fact it was a bit better because it was better maintained! Anyway, we got to
Nappanee relatively easily. Then Dodd took over and got us home to the cabin by
about 10:00pm. It was so nice to be somewhere familiar that felt like a home.
We just pulled in essentials for the evening and morning and fell into bed.
So, for all intents and purposes this marks the
end of the Wayward Newlywed journey. We still have about a month of ‘vacation’
for me and two months of bee work for Dodd. I am still going back and forth
about whether I will continue to blog our adventures in the bees. My guess is
there will be some days when nothing exciting happens at all for me, as I will
mostly be hanging out in the cabin trying to get some writing done (other than
blog writing lol). I may add a post here or there, but the ‘daily updates’ I
think from this point will stop.
Thank you to everyone who have gone on this
journey with us via the interwebs. We both look forward to sharing more
pictures and stories with you when we are back in Vancouver.
Much love, and as always
Cheers
